Located in downtown Oakland, CA, Bocanova’s inspiration relies on natural themes that tie into the restaurant’s South American identity.  Bocanova showcases a colorful balance of warm and bright touches mixed with an elegant yet lively dining atmosphere. Arcsine’s color palette weaves together rich hues drawn from the America’s artisanal history such as deep turquoise, warm coral, along with geometric patterns and warm teak wood throughout. Recognizing the importance of the previous restaurant experience, Arcsine adopted an intentional design strategy that enhances and elevates the original theme.

As you enter the space, you’re welcomed in by a full-size mural painted by Cameron Moberg at the Espresso Bar—revealing a bright and colorful representation of classic Bocanova ingredients such as ears of corn and fruits. Featured in the space are warm teak tiles, concrete tops, deep turquoise tiles, and jug lamps that evoke a nod to their former Jack London Square location.  Wood tables and seating from the sustainable company Masaya provide a direct connection to Central American craft. 

At the more formal rear dining space, the ceviche bar takes center stage.  The floor features a custom mosaic tile inspired by traditional South American textiles, and additional jug pendants above the bar provide continuity with the front space.  Banquettes, a communal table, and cozy round booths provide a variety of seating options.  The open kitchen lets guests experience the excitement of the kitchen and feel connected to the food and drinks.
