Arcsine and Design Atelier were hired to re-conceive the glass atrium lobby, reception, & restaurant space for this 80s era hotel. The existing sloping glass space suffered from excessive heat gain, poorly delineated areas, and dated finishes. Arcsine and Design Atelier saw the space as a social container for travelers. New partial height partitions and low seating areas will divide the space into functional zones (i.e. registration, social/business areas, restaurant), while keeping in place the open atrium feel. A chameleon bar will transform from a breakfast hub in the morning into a social center at night, adjusting both visually and operationally to employee and guest needs. Window film and sun sails will be added to control heat and provide solar shading, transforming an existing liability into an opportunity for an additional aesthetic element, helping to soften and humanize the vast lobby space.
