PROJECT: Vesu Restaurant | LOCATION: Walnut Creek, CA | ARCHITECT: Arcsine | ENGINEER: Gregory Paul Wallace
Transformed from an existing piano store into a vibrant restaurant, Vesu wields a commanding presence that draws customers into an open space that is simultaneously sophisticated, comfortable and warm. Situated on a competitive street corner, the design needed to grab attention and engage pedestrians. The restaurant building was wrapped in an innovative wood panel rain screen façade complemented by a curving wall of frameless glass that entices passers-by to look inside. A canopy of FSC-certified eucalyptus leads patrons from the entrance to the lounge and extends to the back bar. Each type of wood serves as a unique tool to aid transition between the exterior and interior and from lounge to the dining area.
