French Bistro Reimagined
Left Bank Brasserie Jack London
Decorative and sophisticated
Left Bank Jack London Square celebrates Parisian culture with a modern design approach. Focusing on maintaining a modern and sophisticated ambiance from morning to night, the design intent was to create an authentic French brasserie atmosphere with refined decorative elements spread throughout the space. The indoor restaurant effortlessly blends with the large patio creating an inviting atmosphere where locals and travelers alike feel a sense of wanderlust and bliss—the perfect place to grab small bites and drinks after work or have a night out with a loved one for dinner.
Playful and whimsical
The entrance has a vintage host stand and a grand banquette with metal glass accents to elevate the space and bring in a mix of modern and traditional elements. The front dining room wallcovering, crafted by Astek, puts a unique stamp on the space. The French blue-gray custom toile wallpaper features a delicate background for signature Jack London Square illustrations such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Oakland cranes, and Oakland’s waterways —a whimsical pattern that blends the overall restaurant concept and the surrounding community into one. In the center of the front dining room, a blue banquette with French bistro chairs sits below fluted glass dividers and greenery that artistically conveys Left Bank’s bohemian side. When guests look up, they will notice a detailed ceiling covered in tin ceiling panels, a classic French motif found in many brasseries.
French motifs in Oakland
Seating nineteen, Left Bank Oakland’s bar is both alluring and intimate—showcasing elegant details such as the brown vinyl barstools, black and white accent tiles, and a marble bar top. With the rear dining room displaying the restaurant’s wine window, red leather and tufted buttonless upholstered banquette seating with gold pendant light fixtures above provide a memorable dining experience. The space features a rich color palette of French blues and deep reds, accented by antique metal details and decorative tin ceiling paneling. The private dining area overlooking the large windows has an inviting atmosphere and carries forward the playful narrative of the front dining with the Astek wallcovering in white, foregrounded by original French artworks passionately sourced by the clients.
